A Statement for Statues

By now you’ve combed through every fashion-inspired site that covered the Golden Globes. You’ve reached your conclusion on whether or not Jennifer Lopez can pull off mustard yellow (for the record, we think she most definitely can), you’ve committed to buying at least one dress with pockets this year and you most surely have vowed to see The Revenant, if for no other reason than Leonard won the award.

And, if you’ve lost sleep over why no one wore Ellie Saab or Calvin Klein, we recommend counting stellar accessories instead of sheep. It worked for us, because the bold, glittering adornments we saw were truly the red carpet stars this year.

 Jennifer Lawrence topped her Dior Haute Couture gown with more than 156 carats of Chopard diamonds. That makes us want to be her best friend.

The statement necklace was big for stars’ décolletages, like Jennifer Lopez’s wrapped in Harry Winston diamonds, Emmy Rossum in Van Cleef & Arpels and Olivia Palermo in a gilded David Webb necklace.

Colored jewels made their own statements with a 1975 Bulgari choker on Olivia Wilde, vibrant opal drop earrings by Irene Neuwirth on Bryce Dallas Howard and Jaimie Alexander’s Lorraine Schwartz emerald studs.

And because plunging necklines seemed to have nominated themselves this year, a lot of the glitz was arm candy instead – whether as  Zendaya’s Lydia Courteille ring and Yoko London pearls or Lady Gaga’s gaggle of Neil Lane stacked bracelets.
